A new event location at Karlsplatz.
During the course of the past five years, the Wien Museum has been remodeled and it now has a state-of-the-art technical infrastructure. The new events space offers a unique view of Karlsplatz and the Karlskirche. The variable room layouts mean that events with a wide range of sizes and formats can take place. The modern equipment and the exclusive furniture are the cornerstone of your event.
Just in time for the opening of the new building, the Wien Museum was awarded the Austrian Ecolabel as a museum and event location.
The extensive renovation and the accompanying modernization measures were a welcome opportunity to subject all areas of the museum's work and the building to a rigorous assessment of sustainability and environmental friendliness and to plan accordingly.
The Wien Museum underwent the strict certification process to obtain the Austrian Ecolabel. In addition to criteria such as the purchase of green electricity and the consumption of resources, the criteria examined primarily concerned the area of energy efficiency. Among other things, the new house scores points here with heating and cooling thanks to geothermal energy (geothermal probes), automatically darkening Sage glass throughout the building, a photovoltaic system on the roof and clay plaster on the exterior walls. The introduction of the so-called climate corridor should also be mentioned here: The temperature and humidity in the permanent exhibition area are kept within a range that is acceptable for the objects - which saves an enormous amount of energy compared to previous rigid values.
