🌙 The history of Bar Sünde
Welcome to Bar Sünde - a genuine Hamburg original bar between Schanze and St. Pauli.
When you enter, you immediately realise that this is no ordinary place. The walls are old, rough, full of traces of past decades. They have never been whitewashed because every unevenness, every crack carries a piece of history. And that is precisely why this place is called Sin - because it embodies what St. Pauli has always been about: longing, freedom and a hint of temptation.
✨ Legends & stories
The neighbourhood has been telling stories about these spaces for decades. The first German chapter of the H-Angels is said to have been founded here before the opening of Sünde (1970s). Is that true? Nobody knows for sure - but it's precisely this mystery that makes it so appealing.
Musicians have also left their mark: Ritchie Blackmore, guitarist for Deep Purple, is said to have regularly sat on his favourite stool here. Some even swear that the Beatles drank a beer here in their early Hamburg years, long before they achieved world fame. And sometimes, when the lights dim, you can almost see them - the flickering flames of nights gone by dancing on the walls like memories.
